How Do You Create Balance?
In October, Carrie Woodley shared how she creates Balance… "I am a mother of two, work 40 hours a week and find that I create the best balance in my life by reviewing the next day's roster of activities and planning each and every hour so I'm not consumed trying to figure out what I have to do next - I already know." Thanks Carrie, and for sharing, we’re sending you a gift certificate to Massage Envy!
Want to be a part of Balance? Visit www.balanceaustin.com and click on “Your Balance.” If you feel like you have tips to share with other women, don’t be shy! If your "How I Create Balance" entry is featured, we’ll send you a gift like Carrie above!

Tune in Sunday, November 4th and 25th from 8am to 9am and see what fellow Balance members are programming. Thanks to Lindi Parshall and Phyllis Shapiro, both of Austin, for programming the October edition. For your efforts, we're going to send you a Balance gift bag.
If you have a playlist that sets your tone every Sunday morning, click here and submit five songs. Go ahead, this is your chance to program a radio station!
Balance Favorites
Every month in this newsletter, we’ll showcase a new “favorite.” It could be a place to shop, somewhere to eat, or even a daily activity. This month, we’d like to turn you on to The Casserole Queens. When you think home-cooking convenience straight to your door, think Casserole Queens - CasseroleQueens.com. Just in time for thanksgiving too! Now that's a great way to save some time and energy and ultimately create some balance!
Featured Health Tip
Just like you, we get stressed out sometimes too. The good new is, some stress is normal. But, if you’re constantly under high stress, your whole body can suffer. So what can you do? The first step to managing chronic stress is recognizing it.
- Look for pattern changes. Are you sleeping too much? Or too little? Have you lost your appetite? Or are you over-eating?
- Acknowledge physical pain. Are you experiencing headaches? Is your stomach in knots? Is there tension in your back and neck?
- Be aware of your mental health. Are you having panic attacks? Do you suffer from prolonged sadness? Are you feeling overwhelmed?
If you have any of these symptoms, talk to your doctor.
Go Red For Women
Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power we have as women to band together and wipe out heart disease. Thanks to the participation of millions of people across the country, the color red and the red dress have become linked with the ability all women have to improve their heart health and live stronger, longer lives.
Taking care of your heart is more important than you might know. Too few people realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of American women — and of men. But the good news is that heart disease can largely be prevented. Go Red For Women empowers women with knowledge and tools so they can take positive action to reduce their risks of heart disease and stroke and protect their health.

This Month’s Featured Podcast
This month, we sat down with Sharon Butza, owner of The Upstairs Maid. Sharon has spent 21 years helping women find more balance in their lives by alleviating cleaning their home from their "to-do list." For Sharon, it is choosing the "other things" wisely that creates balance in her life. Go to the Podcast section at balanceaustin.com to hear more about Sharon.
A Season of Giving
Tis’ the season for giving, sharing, and showing gratitude for the things around you. Though it can be difficult to find the right gift for the right person, it can be very easy to give to those in need. Whether you can donate money, gifts, time, or simply lend a smile to those less fortunate this season, you will help make a difference.
