Five Ways to Get In Shape In Austin
Get in shape this summer without hiding out in a gym. Here are some ways you can stay in shape and enjoy the outdoors.
Become a dog walker. Your dog will love you or if you don’t have a dog stop by your Local animal shelter. They are always in need of dog walkers. Plus animals boost your mood. Plant a garden. You can create a large garden or even and indoor garden depending on your space. Stop by your local nursery to find out what grows best in your soil and for proper caring or your garden. Pretty soon you will be able to compliment a meal with something you grew! Visit The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for inspiration, www.wildflower.org Be a kid again. Get outside, visit a park, fly a kite, go canoeing in Town Lake or take a hike. The fresh air will be great and it will be like a mini vacation. The Austin Parks and Recreation Department oversees more than 16,682 acres of land containing 206 parks, 12 preserves (sanctuaries for native plants, native animals and unique natural features), and 26 greenbelts (parkland on creeks and canyons). Parks are open for public use each day from 5am - to 10pm unless otherwise posted. http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/parks/parks.htm Ride a bike. Commute to work on local cycling paths.
